yellow and i, we didn’t know
each other very well 
on that balmy night
not even the moonlight
shone as bright
as the warm yellow laugh
the bright yellow eyes
yellow and i, we introduced ourselves

yellow has a softness i had never known
but yellow has a brightness that 
refuses to be dimmed
for anything 
yellow demands respect and in return 
grants patience 
yellow is easy to rely on 
but 
quick
to change 
yellow and i, we got to know each other

yellow is always moving always 
changing never getting close enough 
to mix and form another color yellow 
is the unease of change and
reliability of it 
i will never be able to prepare 
yellow moves quickly and constantly

yellow only knows yellow because it’s hard 
to see another color when yellow is so bright 
but yellow and i, we didn’t know
each other very well and yellow
can see other colors but none as well 
as yellow because yellow
is bright and warm and inviting
just not when mixed with blue
